Less is More

Thank you, Nikky B., Boca Raton, FL, for your review of Plymouth Rock in Plymouth, MA.

For those like me, whose only memories of Elementary School are favorite teachers and recess, here's the Google AI overview of Plymouth Rock (so sorry).

I share this only to show that Plymouth Rock is just a symbol of the beginning of American colonization and not literally a giant rock that indicated they'd hit land - which is what I'd thought, if I thought about it at all.

There's nothing particularly remarkable about your review, but for some reason I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. In fact, I find it a little annoying that you're trying to sound like a rock connoisseur with terms like "diluted numbers" and "weak stature." Maybe you do know a lot about rocks; good for you. This is just a weird place to flex.

The part that I've had stuck with me since I read it, I don't know how many years ago, is:

Plymouth pebble.

I laughed out loud! Well, let's not be hyperbolic; I chuckled. Imagine being a rock - and not just any rock, a prominent rock in American history, maybe even the most prominent rock - and someone calls you a pebble. That is a sick burn... if you're a rock.

In an era where people can read but choose not to, concision is the way to go, and that, your review has. I'm certainly not supporting the global disintegration of intelligence (again, sorry about the AI), but I'm saying Yelp isn't the place we should be putting that kind of energy. You've made your point in one brief yet straightforward paragraph. "Less is more" is the positive takeaway of the day unless, of course, you're a rock.

Four out of five stars.

See you next Tuesday.
