Thank you, Bobbi D., New York, NY for your review of Osteria 57 in New York, NY. 

Ugh.

It truly doesn’t matter how unprofessional the manager may have seemed; you are the problem here. No one should ever think it’s okay to ask for a check to be split with that many credit cards. 

If you’re reading this and are somehow puzzled or confused, you are also part of the problem. Your server will (and should) hate you if you make this request, especially at the end of the meal. Would you ask them to cut your food up for you as well? I didn’t think so.

Far too many apps (not appetizers) exist to assist in paying the bill for this to be an issue at all. There’s:

• Zelle

• Venmo

• Paypal

• Splitwise

• Settle Up

• Tab

• Plates

• GooglePay

• Good ol' fashioned cash

Etc. 

No excuses. 

As for the late-in-the-game added gratuity… a bit of a tacky move, but you’re leaving a one-star review for a place that you found fun, purely because the manager was enforcing the rules. I’m sure they could tell you were the sort of asshole who wouldn’t tip properly anyway. 

The only thing this review does for me, as a reader (and not a critic), is remind me that I don't like dining out with that many people.
