Thank you, Meaghan, for your review of OstrichlandLand USA, a 33-acre ostrich and emu breeding farm in Solvang, CA.
I don't know about a fake front. Did you see and/or feed ostriches and emus, or not? I've been there many times, and it is very much real.

"Think of us as a farm, a ranch, a zoo, or even a prehistoric park."
That is the second line of the 'About' page on their website. Funny how I don't see the word 'sanctuary' listed... They're doing all the things, including the unsavory ones, typically done at farms. If you'd get your head out of the sand (eh?), you'd realize this is not that unusual.
What you see as "disturbing" or "repulsive," I see as economical. I'm big on composting, so the idea of repurposing the meat of an ostrich carcass as an edible treat in a shop whose sales benefit the well-being of the surviving ostriches... sounds like a win to me! Like putting chicken in your scrambled eggs; it feels a little wrong, but it's not illegal!
Aren't you just the slightest bit curious, Meaghan? I'm not, but that's only because I once ate horse, and didn't love it; too lean.
One out of five stars.
See you next Tuesday.
