Happy to Disappoint

Thank you, Susan S., Oak Ridge, TN for your review of Great Clips in Sevierville, TN.

Long ago, I broke my hand, and it never occurred to me to get my hair professionally washed. Though it sure would have saved me tons of Saran Wrap, plastic bags, rubber bands, time, and dignity.

My thoughts on the hair-washing part of a haircut are complicated. It's arguably the best part, but it's a little too intimate to be done in public by a stranger, ya know? If you close your eyes, are you enjoying it too much? If you keep your eyes open but say nothing, is it awkward? Eyes closed, but chitchatting? I don't know why I've never Googled the protocol on this, but it's going on my to-do list.

It feels like a you-get-what-you-pay-for type of service, so for $9, I think that, unfortunately, sounds about right. How long had it been since you had washed your hair? Was that a service you enjoyed providing in your days as a hairdresser? I don't think I'd want to do it. And, again, definitely not for only nine dollars.

What I did love about this review was that, if satisfied, you were planning on tipping over 100%. When disappointed, your sick revenge was to "only" tip just over 50%. I wish I could have "disappointed" you during my waitressing days. My goal was never for people to like me, just to "disappoint" them enough to pay my rent.

Three out of five stars. Don't change a thing about how you're showing the people how mad you are!

See you next Tuesday.
