Aldi IS a Fun Stop!

Sally, this is so wonderfully positive and oddly specific! The fact that you chose to review a grocery store - not to mention, one of my favorites - is delightful, inspiring, wholesome!!

Let me ask you a question: Did you just recently discover lists?

Actually, let me rephrase: Have you ever seen the mockumentary 'Best in Show'? It's one of Christopher Guest's films, along with Spinal Tap, Waiting for Guffman, A Mighty Wind, For Your Consideration, and Mascots. There's a character in the movie who, for some reason, can name a lot of nuts, and so he does.

Your review kinda sounds like that.

Or, have you ever seen 'The Birdcage'? It stars Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, Dianne Wiest, Hank Azaria, Calista Flockhart, Dan Futterman, Christine Baranski, and others. There's a scene towards the end of the movie where Gene Hackman's character is sitting at an uncomfortable dinner, describing a recent trip he took. See below.

Just kidding. Do you see now how this is a little unnecessary? I promise that people will believe you when you say a grocery store has a variety of cheeses, without you naming them all.

If you don't already work for Aldi's advertising firm, it certainly does seem like you're trying to get hired as a copywriter there! I don't know if posting on Yelp is the best approach, but crazier things have happened. Not as crazy as the fact that this isn't your first review of the place... or your second!

It would never, ever occur to me to write a review of a grocery store, let alone three reviews, but you've opened my eyes to something: THESE ARE THE PLACES WE SHOULD BE REVIEWING.

Let's get people jazzed about grocery shopping! Leave restaurants and event spaces to the "influencers" on Instagram and TikTok. On Yelp, I want to hear what Sally H. from Tennessee loves about the German selection at her local grocery store. I don't need you to list off their entire catalogue of products, but give me the highlights. What are you rushing back for? What did you and MOM find in the clearance aisle this week?

And while we're on the topic of aisles... on February 16th, 2019, you didn't know how to spell "isle" correctly, on August 18th, 2019, you did, and then on September 20th, 2025, you didn't again. What happened there?!

I'm just being nitpicky.

Anyway, Aldi probably should hire you because you've encouraged me to pop by later today. Who knows what I might find!?
